About Me

I am currently the SVP of Product at HouseCanary, a startup / scaleup focused on the U.S. residential real estate market.  My team is responsible for HouseCanary’s suite of products that are used by some of the biggest players in the $30 trillion+ real estate industry.  I’ve led the process of redefining our foundational product strategy and revitalized our team culture, transforming it into a high-performing and results-oriented team that loves delivering impactful results for our clients.  This shift has also led to substantial revenue / client growth for our company.

One of my core responsibilities is to build out and manage a team of Product professionals across Product Management, Design, Data / Analytics, Sales Engineering, and Operations.

Before moving to the Boulder area in May 2019, I was the VP of Product at EquityZen, a New York-based fintech startup backed by 500 Startups and Draper Associates that built one of the first marketplaces for pre-IPO private stock.  I was one of the first company hires (and the first dedicated Product hire) and a core member of the executive team and investment committee.  I also helped scale the company from 7 people to nearly 50 people during my time there and helped contribute to the company’s substantial growth over that timeframe.

I was responsible for the oversight, management, and execution of all aspects of the product lifecycle, including new product development, existing product management, and digital marketing / growth.  I built the team from scratch and was fortunate enough to hire, mentor, and manage a high performing team of Product and Growth professionals across Product Management, UX Design, Digital Marketing, and Data Science.  If you’re interested in joining the team, I encourage you to check out their careers page.

Prior to joining EquityZen in July 2015, I was the Chief Operating Officer at Sliced Investing, which was a San Francisco-based fintech startup backed by Y Combinator and Khosla Ventures that allowed investors to invest in hedge funds through an automated online investment platform.  I was a member of the leadership team and had broad responsibilities across company operations, including product development, legal / compliance, vendor relations, business development / partnerships, and business strategy.

I started my career at J.P. Morgan and spent a majority of my time there as a member of the Alternative Investments Group (hedge funds, private equity, real estate, and venture capital).  I held several roles across investments, capital markets, and strategy, and was most recently the Head of Business Management (i.e. Chief of Staff) for the group.  After spending 7 years in “big finance”, I decided to leave to try my hand at “startup life”.

I grew up in a bunch of different places, including Staten Island (NY), Jakarta (Indonesia), Suva (Fiji), Brooklyn (NY), and Washington (DC).  I attended Georgetown University, and majored in Science, Technology, and International Affairs (STIA).  I also got a minor-equivalent in Computer Science.

I like to play a lot of sports badly, including golf, soccer, basketball, tennis, and squash.  I also enjoy reading non-fiction books, especially if they are about national / international security, business, technology, or someone interesting.

After living in NYC for most of our lives, our family decided to move out to Colorado in 2019, but I’ll always be a New Yorker at heart.  I currently live in Louisville, CO with my wife Kristine, my two sons, and our Australian Cattle Dog named Pepper.
